Rosie
Rosie is a senior female sweetie, about 10 years old, who is quiet, gentle and affectionate. Rosie was adopted by her foster carer on 1 February. "Rosie is a dear old lady who is very easy to look after. She is happy to do her own thing and potter around the house, preferably at our ankles if she can. She loves food and we have to be careful with her that her middle spread doesn't spread too far. She loves a good walk in the forest and is fit and healthy for her age, which is around 11. She loves a good cuddle, is very sweet, and when she barks she lifts her front feet off the ground like a little wind-up toy. Rosie is scared of fireworks and thunder, which is why she was in the pound. She loves people and our other dogs, and also puts up with the procession of foster dogs we have staying at our place. We are very happy to have found Rosie and for her to spend her retirement years with us."
Millie is a tiny long-haired chihuahua who was looking for someone special with time at home to give her lots of cuddles and the love she deserves. Millie went to her new home on 1 February.

Kent
Kent (now Rastus P Watermelon) is a male Pharaoh Hound who went to his new home on 9 March. "He is a joyous animal and I am so glad that we took the chance and took him home. A unique and beautiful hairy person. He is very settled here. He has some marvellous habits and keeps us laughing, truly. I am proud of the way he has turned out. It took a while for us to realise that he had not had such a good life, and was frightened of many many things. Being gentle with him has worked wonders. Truly, we are so happy to have him with us, and can't imagine life without him now."
Sirocco (Rocky) went to live with his new family on 20 March. "Rocky is fantastic...he is spoilt rotten and loves the kids to bits.....They love him too I might add. They walk him almost every day....play footy with him, he even goes along to football training...He is such an unreal dog!"

Ned
Ned is a male Border Collie who is around 2 years old. Ned was accepted into the training program for the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service on 25 March 2002. "Woof! I’m here at Heathcote NSW, at a training facility which, to me, is Disneyland for Dogs! I've been training for a job with AQIS since leaving my ARF foster carer in May, and will become an official Quarantine Detector Dog on 6 September. My days involve playing with a 'dummy', (to humans it is just a rolled up towel) which I get as a reward for finding items of Quarantine concern. I'm doing really well in my training and have been nicknamed 'Neddy the Wonder Dog'! Everyone is very proud of me…" Update: "Just dropping you a line to let you know how 'Ned' the Quarantine Detector Dog is going in his new job. We passed our Training course in November and since then we have been working out in the field screening international mail. So far we have had a few finds including lavender, tea with citrus and conifer all of which are of Quarantine concern. He also loves to find chocolate biscuits which he is ment to leave alone!! It has been a really busy time over Christmas and we both have been having alot of fun. We have also made a few TV apperances (creature features ABC) and had a story written about us in the paper, so keep an eye out for him in the future."
Scooter is a 3 year old desexed male greyhound. He is a quiet and gentle dog who gets along well with other dogs and is fine with children. He is house broken and walks nicely on lead. There are many misconceptions about greyhounds, that they are hyperactive or aggressive. This just isn't true. The fact is that greyhounds make wonderful easy care pets and loving companions. After a false start back in the pound, Scooter has now gone to a loving new home in Bungendore on 9 April. Good luck Scooter!

Buddy is a gorgeous, happy, active and obedient fellow, who passed his "Beginners" level obedience after only 3 weeks out of the pound. Buddy went to his new home on 25 April."What was really important to me about going through ARF was that Buddy was with Raelene for a month and in this time got to know his nature and personality. Having 3 children and being a bit cautious about getting an adult dog I don't think I would have got him otherwise. But the children and I are so pleased that we have Buddy in our lives now. I feel that we are so blessed to have this man in our lives, he is just what we needed."
Ebony is a beautiful black puppy who went to live with her new 'Mum' on 26 April.
