Rehomed Dogs

The following ARF dogs were rehomed between March to April 2004:

molly
missy

 Name: Molly
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 7 months
Breed: Shih tzu x Maltese
Description: Molly is an attractive, fluffy bundle of energy. She is lively, playful and affectionate, and she loves a tummy rub. A lack of guidance and consistency early in her life have resulted in Molly needing to learn some manners, so training and patience will be essential to help her learn how to behave appropriately in a family situation. She is shy and lacks confidence when she first meets people but quickly warms to them if handled gently and with kindness. A family without the noise or rough and tumble of young children would be ideal for Molly. She gets on well with other dogs, although again, she is very shy with new dogs at first. She would be an ideal companion and playmate for another active (and not too rough) dog, male or female. Molly has commenced obedience lessons with her foster carer, and this will also help with her general socialisation. Molly's pretty soft coat is quite long and silky so will need regular brushing and the occasional clipping to keep her looking and feeling great. She travels well in the car and loves going for walks. She is a very curious and adventurous little girl, and still being a puppy, can get into mischief occasionally.
Listed: 24 February 2004
Rehomed: 3 March 2004
Name: Missy
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 18 months
Breed: Crossbreed
Description: Missy is a truly delightful girl. Kind, soft, friendly and loyal she just wants to be your best friend. Naturally obedient, she is so willing to please and trots around the place never too far away from you. Good in the car and in the house, excellent on the lead (doesn't pull) - she is a pleasure. Missy is great with kids and likes to play fetch with them. She is very tolerant and enjoys a play with other dogs and is okay with cats. Missy has a calm nature, a medium activity level and would make a brilliant, lovable, easy-care family member.

_harlchi.JPG - 12424 Bytes

 Name: Matisse
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 4 years
Breed: Greyhound
Description: Matisse is a very gentle old soul and loves lots of cuddles and hugs and will offer you lots of the same in return. Matisse is definitely a 'couch potato" and will happily sleep on a couch (or bed) all day waiting for you to come home. He adores people and is more interested in soliciting pats from them than anything else, he also loves other dogs (he is currently living with 3 others) so is happy to share his life with a furry companion. Obviously, he shouldn't be kept around poultry and small animals such as rabbits etc.... greys are hunting dogs and the instinct in them is still strong even if they have never seen a race track as in Matisse's case. But for a low maintenance loving companian who is quite content to spend as much time on the couch with you as you can handle, you can't beat him.
Listed: 28 August 2003
Adopted by carer: 15 March 2004
Name: Harley
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 5 years
Breed: Long-haired Chihuahua X
Description: This pretty tri-coloured dog would be delightful addition to any home. Most definitely trained as an indoor dog, Harley is very clean and indicates when he needs to go outside. A very quiet dog he loves to sit by your side or happily chew a bone alone in the sun. His long fine coat would need a quick brush every couple of days to keep Harley looking his best. He is reserved with other dogs preferring the company of his human family, although he has adapted very well into a household with two small, female dogs. Although suitable for a townhouse backyard, Harley certainly enjoys a good, steady walk once or twice a day. Harley makes a great pint-sized personal trainer! He is a fine-boned dog so is only suitable for a household of adults, without the rough-and-tumble of children. A cat-free home is essential.

benjie.jpg - 16901 Bytes
ted

 Name: Benji
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 18 Months
Breed: Jack Russell Cross
Description: Sweet natured Benji really wants to be your friend. While he is a little shy at first, it doesnt take long to warm up and show his true happy, gentle and kind personality. He is a very quiet dog, rarely barking, and enjoys just quietly trotting around the place never too far away from you. Benji loves children, gets on well with dogs, and would benefit from some doggy company if he is to be left home while you go to work etc. He will do a very enthusiastic dance of joy when you return home or have visitors, but any undesireable exhuberance will be easily curbed with some training. He is basically a cooperative little dog who will respond well to obedience training. He is already lead trained and really enjoys a walk with his people. Benji would love to be adopted by a family with a doggy playmate or some children who would play with, and exercise him.
Listed: 3 March 2004
Rehomed: 16 March 2004
Name: Ted
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 4 years
Breed: Mini foxy x Jack Russell
Description: Ted is a very handsome dog with an easy care coat. His foster carer says he was the easiest dog she has ever looked after. He is quiet, polite, very loving and likes to walk along happily beside his humans. Ted is very people-oriented and loves a cuddle or a scratch. Ted is responsive to reward-based training and his favourite trick is to 'beg'. Ted has gone to live with a great family with two kids and another Jack Russell to play with. They love him for who he is and don't mind that he sometimes has seizures so needs to take phenobarbitone tablets for epilepsy twice a day. Ted is a friendly loyal companion and such a great little man.

minnie
tilly

 Name: Minnie
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 12 Months
Breed: Chihuahua (Long Haired)
Description: My foster mum drove all the way to Yass to collect me and I stayed with her for a couple of days just long enough to have my operation and a full medical check to make sure I was in top condition when I went to my 'forever' mum a couple of days later. I now live with my new mum and 2 little boy Chihuahuas and it is fantastic and we all get heaps of love, cuddles and plenty of attention.
Listed: 10 March 2004

Minnie had only a short time with her adopted mum, as she developed a neurological disease and sadly she had to be euthanased and is now at Rainbow Bridge. RIP Minnie from your foster mum, Maree
Name: Tilly
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 4.5 months
Breed: Maltese/Westie X
Description: Tilly is an adorably sweet pup who is socialising very well. She is proving to be an easy-care dog to have around the house and provides endless enjoyment with her puppy antics. She wants to be where the action is, always anxious to be part of the pack! She’s beautiful, extremely cute and is showing all the good signs of being a loyal and devoted family member. With an equally devoted owner who will help her understand the ways of the doggy/human world in continuing her training, she will become the perfect companion. Tilly has a wonderful healthy coat that will need to be brushed regularly and cut/groomed occasionally. Tilly went to live with a loving family who adopted another ARF dog in 2002.

rusty

 Name: Rusty
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 4 years
Breed: Chihuahua/foxie cross
Description: My name is Rusty and I'm a great dog who is no trouble at all. I inherited my handsome spotted coat from my fox terrier parent, and my gentle, submissive temperament, from my chihuahua parent. I'm also the size of a chihuahua. While I am quiet and soft natured, I'm not timid or shy, and will approach you for a cuddle as soon as you sit still. I'm happy to lie on my back like a baby while you pamper me. I sleep in my own bed, I am as fit as a fiddle and am not fussy about food. I am very clean, toilet trained and can use a doggie door. I might be small but I'm very brave and will do my best to guard your house while you are out.

Name: Lulu
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 3.5 years
Breed: Labrador
Description: Lulu is a gorgeous happy girl who loves everyone. She gets on well with most dogs, is used to farm livestock, and she loves the water. She is a healthy and active dog, who doesn't bark unnecessarily. Lulu has some basic training but could do with some more general obedience training as she can be boisterous when she is excited. Like most labradors, Lulu is highly intelligent and keen to please, and would trade her own grandmother for a piece of lasagne - so training this girl using food rewards, will get a good response. Lulu has been adopted into a home with a a doggy playmate for her.

tia
toby

 Name: Tia
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 8 weeks
Breed: Staffy x
Description: "I thought I'd keep you up to date with how Tia is going - and I must say that all is going really well, she's really settled into living us and she is the sweetest little puppy. She has grown a fair bit since we picked her up from you, she's still small and very cute, but getting bigger every day. She is a happy and very affectionate puppy - she's just lovely and placid and playful. When I'm inside, Tia likes to follow me around as I do the washing or the vacuuming etc, so I have made a friend for life with her I think. When we get home from work, the first thing we do is go outside and play with the dogs and their toys. I do some "training" with Tia and then we let them inside. Tia still loves her cuddles so she usually jumps in my lap.

Breed: Maltese
Description: Pippin is a truly delightful girl. Kind, soft, friendly and loyal she just wants to be your best friend. Her condition has improved greatly in foster care, and she now has lots of energy and is as bright as a button. She is a dog that is easy to live with, doesn't mind staying home alone as long she has a comfy chair and warm rug on it. She likes other dogs, loves walks, is house trained, enjoys car rides. She wants to trust you and love you. She really enjoys a cuddle and sleep on your lap any time night or day.
Listed: 12 April 2004
Rehomed: 24 April 2004
Name: Tara
Sex: Female
Age (approx): 8 months
Breed: Mastiff x
Description: Tara is still just a young dog, but she is old enough to have learned some basic manners and is keen to please, so will be easily trained. She is toilet trained, loves anyone who will give her a cuddle (though she can be a bit boisterous for small children), is friendly to dogs and enjoys a good romp. She would make a great playmate or companion for another dog but is also used to being an 'only' dog. Tara is not quite as tall as a labrador and she wont get much taller than she is now, but she will fill out into a solid girl. We think she will grow into a placid sort of dog with a loyal and protective bond to her family. Tara has a beautiful happy temperament and with plenty of love and some more training as she matures, she will be a gorgeous easy-care and very rewarding family member.

Age (approx): 2 years
Breed: Shar Pei
Description: Rolly has such a wonderful personality and is great with kids and other dogs.
Listed: 16 April 2004

Name: Morris (now Coby)
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 6 years
Breed: Tibetan Spaniel
Description: Coby is very happy and wonderful.....we are in love! With some help from a dog behavourist we are all settling in marvellously. He is presently stretched out on the carpet at my feet, and is the most incredibly loving dog. Because Mitty is so obviously MY dog, Coby has realised that Fred is there just for him. They have mated up beautifully. He starts his vigil at the front door, about half an hour before Fred is due to arrive home, for the grand reunion. What a performance. He absolutely loves running around with his barney rug in his mouth and fighting it - wonder how long it will hold up to the treatment?! Yesterday he and Mitka were almost snuggling into each other - amazing how dogs bond after a while isn't it? We couldn't be more pleased with Coby. He is a darling dog.
