| | Absolutely Fabulous: Alice Breed: Cross breed (possibly Mastiff X Greyhound) Sex: Female Age: 3 years Size: Large Description:
Alice is just a beautiful, gentle dog. She is relaxed and
friendly enjoying a play and a romp and then is happy to just
laze around for most of the time. Alice has basic training, sits on
command, comes when called and is house trained. She is eager to please
and continued training would see her further develop into a fine
companion. Alice would suit a family willing to continue her
training, give her that daily burst of exercise and include her as one
of the family. Rescued: 7 June 2005 Adopted: 1 July 2005 | Cute as: Kobi Age: About 5 mths old Breed: Shih Tzu Sex: Male Size: Small Desription: What
an adorably sweet little guy! Kobi has a quiet, gentle nature and
is so very endearing. When Kobi came into foster care he was shy
and nervous, however, with lots of love he has become a wonderful happy
little fellow who loves to play games. His favourite game is
tug-o-war which he plays each night loves before curling up on the
lounge beside you for a nap or having a cuddle in your arms, just like
a baby. Kobi is a very social fellow. He loves my children,
often curling up on the lounge with my daughter or jumping up on the
bed with my son. He is good with our cat and loves other
dogs. He doesn't mind what size dog they are as long as they are
not too rough (because he is very small). He would best suit a
gentle, loving home that has another doggy companion. Rescued: 8 June 2005 Adopted: 1 July 2005

intelligent and loyal. He will make an absolutely devoted family

| Devoted companion: Nina Sex: Female Age: 9 years Breed: Chihuahua X Size: Small Description:
Hello, my name is Nina and I am a lovely mature lady, who is seeking to
adopt someone to look after and keep them company. I’m sensible and
settled, I won’t chew up your shoes, bark through the night or
demand lots of attention, and I always go outside for toilet. I will
enjoy taking you for short walks and I promise to watch over you
carefully and devote myself to you. And keep your lap warm. I
have been diagnosed with epilepsy but this is effectively and cheaply
controlled with medication - no problem! I have many good years of life
and love left in me, as Chihuahuas usually live to around 15-16
years, so if you also have some life left in you, and fancy
sharing it with someone special, perhaps you should call my
foster mum and ask for a date with me. Rescued: 28 March 2005 Adopted: 11 July 2005

| Take me in your arms and love me: Cilla Breed: Papillion X Pomeranian Age: 5 years Sex: Female Size: Small (5 kilos) Description:
Cilla was named after Cilla Black, no particular reason, she just
reminded me of Cilla when I first saw her. Cilla is a lovely girl and
very people focused, she gets on with all my other dogs, she went to
sleep in the car coming home from the pound and loved her bath knowing
that she was washing away her previous life, whatever it was, and
prettying herself up for her next loving family and home. She is a
confident girl and has this endearing thing that she wiggles her
backside and dances from side to side when you scratch her bottom and
the look in her eyes is sheer bliss. She really is a sweet, sweet
girl and would fit in to any family with or without children, with or
without a doggie companion, but, if Cilla was to be the only dog in the
household she would need to have someone either semi/retired person/s
so as to have the best of both worlds as this little “princess”
deserves the best life can offer her. Rescued: 4 July 2005 Adopted: 16 July 2005
| Unique and gorgeous: Danny Age: 12 mths Breed: Kelpie X Size: Small - Medium Sex: Male Description:
Danny has just come into foster care. He has been extremely neglected,
is underweight and generally in very poor condition. A vet has assessed
him and he will with some loving, bounce back. Danny's coat is not
looking as gorgeous as it should. Missing fur will grow back and he
will have a lovely soft coat. Danny is a beautiful, extremely friendly
boy. He is about knee high, and with good food and care may grow a bit
taller and will certainly fill out. Danny is not a timid boy in spite
of his neglect, even enjoying a shopping trip and going to a cafe. He
has a sunny disposition and is raring to meet his forever home.
Danny really deserves it to be soon! He’s a curious and quirky lad who
is very quiet on the noise front. Danny is extremely friendly with
other dogs, and loves children. Danny travels well in the car and is a
clever boy, quickly starting to learn some basic training. Rescued: 22 July 2005 Adopted: 31 July 2005

| Laid-Back Boy: Banjo Sex: Male Age: about 5 years old Breed: Shih Tzu X Size: Small (6 kgs) Description:

designed his black and white colouring! Banjo has no bad habits and is
a very low maintenance dog. He’s content to lounge around in the sun by
himself or lay next to you on the couch! Banjo has a positive outlook
on life and a happy disposition. He's very responsive and friendly to
humans and enjoys playing with other dogs. He’s not a barker, in fact
he rarely barks and when he does it’s only to alert you because he’s
heard a noise. Banjo is a joy to take for a walk because he loves go
out and is excellent on the lead also he’s a great little passenger in
the car and is housetrained. Banjo has a lovely coat that will require
regular brushing (which he loves) to keep it tangle free. He'd like
another dog for company but he’d also be fine as an only dog if he

| Lovely Little Man: Roy Breed: Jack Russell X Sex: Male Age: 2 years Size: Small Description:
Roy is a wonderful boy, he is gentle, calm and smart as anything. Roy
learnt his new name in a matter of minutes. Roy has had some basic
training, he is excellent on a lead, sits and comes when called and is
very eager to please. Roy is toilet trained and seems to pay no
attention to the cat. Roy would have average exercise needs a thirty
minute walk and a game of ball, would keep him happy and healthy. Roy
would make an excellent family pet or special companion. Roy would
excel in a family willing to continue his training, give him some daily
exercise and welcome him as one of the clan. Rescued: 6 July 2005 Adopted: 11 July 2005 | Soft and gentle: Princess Age: 4 years Sex: Female Breed: Boxer x Shar Pei Size: Medium/large Description: OK,
we know shes not exactly a classic beauty but you will rarely meet a
dog more beautiful on the inside - and we think shes gorgeous on the
outside too. Princess is the gentlest, sweetest dog;
she doesn't have a bad or even a slightly naughty bone in her
body. She is calm, quiet and sensible, always waggy, and loves
spending time following you around or sleeping (and snoring loudly) on
the couch. Princess is clean and house trained, good with
children, cats and other dogs, and a perfect house pet. Her very
short coat sheds little, and she walks sedately on lead. She is
currently recovering from a range of injuries and conditions brought
about by long term neglect and while somewhat unwell at present, she
remains smiley and soft-natured at all times. She will be
available for adoption when her health has improved and she has lost
several kilos, but meanwhile we are happy to receive expressions of
interest in this gorgeous girl. Princess's new owner will need to
commit to watching her diet and exercising her regularly Rescued: 22 July 2005 Adopted: 15 August 2005 |

| Friendly and obedient: Charlie Sex: Male Age: Approx 10 months Breed: Kelpie x German Shepherd Size: Medium Description:
Charlie is an intelligent and handsome youngster with a friendly, easy
going manner. He loves people, is very responsive, and strives to
please. He comes when he's called, sits when asked and although
he is presently in the most active stage of his life, he is relatively
docile and his breeding suggests he will mature into a capable, calm
and sensible dog. Charlie is gentle and tolerant with children, content
to be dressed up, cuddled and dragged around. He is very food
reward orientated and being so intelligent and people-focussed, is an
easy training prospect. Obedience training is advisable as
Charlie matures, and he's sure to be the star of the class! He is
submissive and playful with other dogs and would make a good companion
for another dog. Charlie is very devoted and attentive and while not a
high maintenance dog he will need regular exercise and plenty of
time just hanging out with his people. He is the size of a
Kelpie and shouldn't get any taller. Rescued: 21 June 2005 Adopted: 19 July 2005

socialise him. He seems very clever, comes when called, and is going
well with the house training, and plays well with my dogs. He doesn’t
annoy them at all, just plays with very good manners. He loves a
cuddle, and will sit very quietly for a long time if he is getting a
cuddle. Rescued: 1 July 2005 Adopted: 15 July 2005

handsome looks with a gorgeous flowing coat and happy expression, but
also in his fabulous nature. Hairy is a gentle natured boy who
adores people. He loves cuddles and is happy just to follow you
around and sit at your feet. He is very obedient and knows how to

with other dogs, is great with our cat and also likes children.
He loves a game, however is just as happy to relax quietly. Hairy
has moderate exercise requirements and is very good on lead.
His flowing coat will need a regular brush to keep him knot free
and handsome. Hairy will suit many family situations as long as
he gets lots of love and attention and be allowed inside. Rescued: 16 July 2005 Adopted: 22 July 2005 | Loyal and loveable: Lydia Sex: Female Age: (approx) 2 yrs Breed: Maltese X Size: Small (Weight 5.6kg) Description:This

sociable girl who travels well in the car and gets on OK with my
cat. She will give a warning bark to let you know when someone is
around your house but then stops. Lydia would suit most family
situations so long as she has plenty of attention and is not left alone
for long periods. Rescued: 13 April 2005 Adopted: 24 July 2005

| Mature and sensible: Barney Sex: Male Age (approx): 7 years Breed: Foxie x red heeler Size: Small/medium Description:
Looking for a mature gentleman companion? Barney may be the ideal
candidate. This charming middle-aged chap loves a cuddle and is
longing for love, promising absolute devotion. A quietly
confident dog, Barney thrives on human company and would be perfect for
a retired person or someone who spends a good part of the day at
home. Alternatively, a home with another canine would suit.
Barney enjoys a game and plays nicely with other dogs. Being a
mature dog, his personality is well established, and he is sensible and
well behaved. He’ll have a spring in his step for quite a few
years yet, as little dogs commonly live into their mid teens. Rescued: 17 April 2005 Adopted: 17 July 2005
| Quiet and cuddly: Mitch Age: 3-4 years Sex: Male Breed: Chihuahua X Size: Small Description:
Mitch is a handsome and confident little man who loves cuddles and
playing doggy games. He's in beautiful condition and is a fit and
active dog. He would make a great companion to another active
little dog who likes to play. Mitch is also very happy being a
lap-warmer and his new family will be able to rely on his services in
this area. Mitch's short coat needs little care and
sheds minimally. He will make an endearing, affectionate and amusing
addition to someone's life though he is too tiny and delicate for
rough play with kiddies. Rescued: 13 July 2005 Adopted: 17 July 2005

| Little charmer: Nikki Sex: Female Age: approx. 12 months Breed: Terrier x Size: Small (4.5 kgs) Description:
This little girl is a darling and will win your heart in no time at
all. She's charming, very affectionate, though a little shy at first
but once you offer her a pat or a treat she's yours! Nikki's not just a
pretty face, she' s responsive and quick to learn. In no time at all
she mastered "sit" and "stay" and using the dog door. She'll come when
called, right to your feet in the sit position! She also learned that
bones stay outside and it's bad manners to just jump up on your lap.
She does love the attention of her family and is always ready for a
cuddle. She'll lie next to you while watching television, or near you
if you're on the computer and will stay there until you move! She's
very playful with her doggy friends, big and small and loves to cuddle
up to them also. A home with another dog would really be good for
Nikki. She's great on and off the lead and good in the car. Because
Nikki's a fine-boned dog she'd probably be best suited to a home with
children over seven. She has a slightly wirey coat, not prone to
matting and very easy to manage so an occasional brush is all that will
be required. If you're looking for a devoted and loving companion then
Nikki may be the dog for you. Rescued: 17 April 2005 Adopted: 28 July 2005
| Beautiful & Friendly: Louie Breed: Border Collie X Sex: Male Age: 9-12 months Size: Medium Description:
What a beautiful boy Louie is, he was handed in for rehoming through no
fault of his own. Louie is extremely friendly, house trained, great
with dogs and children. Louie is an active chap, but not boisterious
and he doesn't jump up. Louie is smart and very willing to please, he
learned to use the doggie door in no time at his carer's place and has
the basics of sit and come, further training will see him develop into
a wonderful loyal and loving addition to any family. Louie is an active
dog and would need a family that is happy to give him the exercise he
needs, and continue his training so that he develops into the beautiful
companion he is meant to be. Rescued: 29 June 2005 Adopted: 24 July 2005 |

| Gentle Giant: Benjamin Age: 18 months Sex: Male Breed: Labrador x German Shepherd Size: Large (42 kg) Description:
What a lovely and special boy Benjamin is. An impressive looking
and handsome dog, Benjamin is very gentle and trustworthy with men,
women, children, cats and all sorts of dogs. He’s particularly
friendly towards children and will tolerate prodding, cuddling and ear
pulling without reacting. Ben has received some training in the
past and knows basic obedience commands. He also walks
beautifully on and off-lead, making him a pleasure to walk, despite his
great size and strength and occasional youthful bounciness. Ben is an
easy-going and quiet dog with nice indoor manners - he loves just
hanging around his people, sleeping at your feet, and is pleased to be
part of a family. Ben doesn’t seem to have any emotional baggage; he’s
a pretty straightforward dog with a laid-back temperament, although he
will need 6-foot fences if you wish to confine him to a yard. He’s not
a wanderer; he just likes to be near his people. Benjamin will
require moderate amounts of exercise and his coat is low maintenance. Rescued: 20 July 2005 Adopted: 23 July 2005
| Plucky young fellow: Reggie Sex: Male Age: 1 year Breed: Chihuahua X Size: Small (5.3 kgs) Description:
Being a young adult dog who appears not to have had any training or
much socialisation, Reggie is now coming along nicely under the
guidance of his foster family. He loves being with the other dogs in
the household and is good with kids. He responds well to praise and
wants so much to 'fit in' and be part of the family. Reggie quickly
learned to use the doggie door, and watches my own dogs to mimic their
behaviour. Reggie is playful, likes travelling in the car and loves
going for walks. Being young and impressionable Reggie would benefit
from further training and socialisation with other dogs outside his
immediate family. Reggie is a lovable, gentle dog who likes to nestle
his head into you for a pat. He will make a lovely companion in almost
any circumstance, but will enjoy a doggie playmate if his people are
away during the day. Rescued: 21 June 2005 Adopted: 23 July 2005

| Cafe society companion: Scruffy Sex: Male Age: 3yrs (approx) Breed: Silky Terrier X Maltese Size: Small Description: Scruffy
is a gorgeous boy who thrives on attention. He is very well
socialised with other dogs and is good with both my cats. He
would be best homed with another dog for companionship or where someone
is home part of the day or week. He is great company for children
especially those over the age of 6 years. If you want a lap dog that
you take out to a café or a first dog for a young primary school
aged child who would love to dress and pour lots of attention on him,
this is the dog for you. He gives back double what you give him
and he loves cuddles or just being close by. The excitement on
his face and his little circle tricks when he knows he going out for a
walk will melt your heart! He also loves play time in the park
spending most weekends at one of the many around Canberra with my puppy
Lil. Recently clipped, this debonair little boy is most adorable,
especially in his very own Drizabone and jumpers to keep him warm in
the cold winter months of Canberra. Rescued: 25 May 2005 Adopted: 23 July 2005
| Mature and sensible: Booma Age (approx): 5 years Sex: Male Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Size: Medium Description:
With Booma's maturity and well-established personality, what you see is
what you get. He’s a dog of simple needs. Somewhere warm to
sleep, a good feed, a daily walk and he’s happy. He’s a quiet and
polite fellow who won’t demand attention, but once you spend some time
with him, he will be your friend for life. Booma already has
basic obedience training and enjoys spending time with his foster
family. He especially loves the attention showered on him by his
9-year-old handler. She is teaching him tricks and finds him easy to
walk on the lead - and he pays no attention to other dogs they meet on
the street. Booma is used to being an outside dog, and while he
would also like to spend time indoors with his people, his coat is
thick enough for him to sleep outdoors in a warm kennel. Booma is
an easy-going and sensible boy who copes well with long stretches alone
while you’re at work. For the person or family who wants a pet that
will fit in readily, ask for little but give his total devotion in
return, Booma might be the perfect dog. Rescued: 22 July 2005 Adopted: 27July 2005 |

| Gentle giant: Theodore Age (approx): 7 years Sex: Male Breed: Newfoundland X Size: Extra Large (50 kg) Description: It
has been said of the Newfoundland breed that they possess 'Beauty
without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity
and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices.' Originally bred as
working dogs, 'Newfys' are also renowned family companions, having
incredibly sweet and gentle dispositions. Theodore is typical of
his breed: calm, gentle, docile and affectionate to his people. He
seems disinterested in cats, and enjoys the company of dogs. He
is truly a gentle giant. Theo enjoys walks of about 30 minutes,
and despite his great size and strength, is well behaved and easily
managed on lead. He loves to swim and is a natural athlete in the
water, powering along in our dam with the grace of a big black polar
bear. Theo does not complain when left on his own for periods of
time, though he loves people and does a 'happy dance' every time he
sees me, after even a short separation. He is house trained and
can use a dog door. His dense, soft coat will need regular brushing.
Giant breeds like Newfoundlands age at a faster rate than smaller
breeds, and have a life expectancy around 10 years. Therefore we
have had Theo checked out thoroughly by our vets, including blood tests
that reveal him to be in excellent general health. We have also reduced
Theo’s adoption price to reflect his senior status and we hope someone
with a soft spot for older dogs will take Theo into their heart and
their lives. Theo is looking for a home to spend his retirement
comfortably, and his new owners will be rewarded with all the love and
devotion this big-hearted boy can give. Rescued: 28 June 2005 Adopted: 27 July 2005
| Your family’s new best friend: Harpo Sex: Male Age: 10 - 12 months Breed: crossbreed Size: Small/medium Description:
Harpo is an active little dog you easily fall in love with. He fitted
smoothly into our family life and gets on well with our dogs. Children
are clearly his favourites and all he wants is to be their friend.
Harpo is a very smart little dog who learns very quickly and it would
be a pleasure to take him to obedience training. His ideal family would
allow him to be involved in their activities. If left alone during day
time Harpo would need a doggie companion because of his active
temperament. But that said, he still has some growing up to do
and he will settle down along the way. Harpo is housetrained and uses
the doggie door. Rescued: 19 July 2005 Adopted: 30 July 2005

|
| Affectionate and friendly: Belle (now Moppet) Sex: Female Age: Approximately 3-4 months Breed: Terrier cross Size: Small/medium when mature (currently about 5kg) Description:
Belle is a gorgeous, loving, goofy pup! She has the laid back,
gentle and loving attitude that you see in golden retrievers, but
inside a terrier body! She is playful, loving her toys and taking
delight in simple things like a leaf blowing across the garden. She is
also affectionate, just loving a cuddle and a nice lap to snuggle on
when the day's puppy duties have been completed. She seems to be quite
confident in herself, and is able to amuse herself for periods of time
with stimulating toys and surrounds, so could cope being an only dog.
However she would definitely prefer to have a doggy companion as she's
fairly dog oriented - just loving them to bits and wanting to play. She
seems quite smart, having learned to retrieve (actually bringing the
ball back to you and giving it to you!) and to go to her bed in a short
time, so has the potential to be great at obedience training or agility
activities. She can be a bit exuberant when excited (just the normal
puppy behaviour) so may be best suited to older children and dog
companions who are up to rough-and-tumble activities. That said, she
quietens down when told to, and copes well with 'down-time', sitting
happily in a crate, watching the rest of the doggy and human family go
about their business. Belle's ideal home would have a doggy companion
for daytime fun and games, a great yard to play in, and family who will
include her in their activities, will continue her training (toilet and
socialisation) so that she can grow into a well adjusted family member. Rescued: 12 July 2005 Adopted: 30 July 2005
| Stunning Smoocher: Lenny Breed: German Shepherd Sex: Male Age: 10-12 months Size: Large Description:
Absolutely gorgeous adolescent! Lenny’s photos don’t do him justice,
giving the impression of a lean and hungry fellow when he is quite the
opposite. A wonderful cuddly teddy of a boy! Lenny gets along
fantastically with other dogs and loves his human companions. He
loves to tossle around all day while waiting for you and then
positively beams from your cuddles when you get home. He would love
nothing better than to snuggle with his family at night after a day of
activity and play. Lenny has had some basic training, travels well in
the car and is responsive to new things. He is a gem on the lead and
whether a leisurely stroll or a gentle run, he is happy to go at your
pace and will patiently wait for you at the corner shops while you pop
in for the milk. His ideal family would continue his training and allow
him to be actively involved in their daily activities. Another doggy
companion for him to play with would also be great, although for people
who are around most of the day he may be content being the only
dog. Lenny has a beautiful medium length coat that will need
occasional grooming and he will enjoy the TLC you give him doing it. Rescued: 18 July 2005 Adopted: 30 July 2005

Roxy is a quiet, affectionate little girl who loves to be cuddled and
have a sit on your lap. She will always welcome a pat and will
listen attentively while you have a chat with her. Roxy is fully
housetrained and very rarely barks. She enjoys a game of ball when she
is feeling frisky and is very good on lead for walkies time. She has
already mastered the command "sit" and comes reliably when
called. Roxy will be quite happy to be an only dog so long as she
has human company most of the day. Rescued: 21June 2005 Adopted: 31 July 2005
| ((Handsome Pup)): Bobby Sex: male Age: approx 6 months Breed: crossbreed Size: Medium Description:

but is now showing all the signs of a beautiful happy puppy. Bobby
didn't have any problems fitting into the ranking order in my
household. He gets on well with my dogs (small and big) and is gentle
with the children. Bobby is like an uncut diamond. You rub of a few
rough edges and he will shine. With the right obedience training he
will turn into a devoted friend for life. Bobby is housetrained and can
use the doggie door. Bobby needs exercise every day to keep him fit and
healthy. So if you could do with some exercise yourself and need
someone to get you off the couch and out in the fresh air - here is
your chance! Rescued: 27 July 2005 Adopted: 17 August 2005

| Cute as a button: Leila Breed: Dachshund x possibly Chihuahua Sex: Female Age: About 4 months Size: Tiny Description: What
a sweety! This little girl has personality plus. Always
happy, enjoys a game, but most of all LOVES a cuddle. Leila is a
great little pup, with the emphasis on little as she is only about 17cm
high. She will make a lovely companion for many family
situations. She is good with other dogs, loves a game with the
cat and to play and cuddle up to my children. As she is so small
she would be best with gentle older children. She has low
exercise requirements, however due to her young age, will need
training. Leila will suit a home either with other dogs or on her
own where she will get loads of attention. Rescued: 6 July 2005 Adopted: 7 August 2005
| Adorable: Angus Breed: Kelpie X Sex: Male Age: 2 years Size: Medium Description: What
a fantastic dog!! Angus was handed in for rehoming due to his
family moving and not being allowed to take him into thier new home.
When Angus was collected I had to return to work for a about 6 hours,
Angus happily lay by my desk, in the office waiting for me, at that
time a complete stranger. This calm behaviour after two weeks at the
pound is shows Angus' potential to be a great dog. Angus'
previous family have described him as fun, great with children, great
with cats, happy to sleep outside and quiet at night. He loves
swimming and walking. In the short time Angus has been with his foster
carer he has been an absolute pleasure. He is certainly good with
cats, he is house trained and is happy to sleep inside or out.
Angus is also excellent walking both on and off the lead. Angus has
basic training and is extremely eager to please and would respond
extremely well to further training. Angus does have high energy levels
and would need a good dose of exercise every day to keep him trim and
happy. Angus would make a great family addition, easy going,
responsive, attentive and fun, and would really love another doggie
mate to play with when the humans aren't about. Rescued: 29 July 2005 Adopted: 7 August 2005 |

is a great best mate. His stumpy tail wags in pleasure everytime we
walk into the room or show him the slighest bit of attention. While
Chico has been at his carers place he has settled in beautifully,
playing well with the other dogs, being sensible around the horse, and
learning to ignore the cat. Chico is great with older kids and my 11
year old niece just wants to take him home every time she visits. Chico
is house trained and has basic training which makes him easy to
live with. Chico is a happy chap, full of energy, with big, loving
brown eyes that are attentive and eager to please. Chico absolutely
loves having his belly scratched and will roll over at the slighest
opportunity. Chico is an active dog and he loves catching that ball!!
Chico is a great out fielder when playing cricket. Chico would love a
family to devote himself to, and to be given strong leadership through
continued training. And he would love one of those great tummy rubs. Rescued:31 May 2005 Adopted: 7 August 2005
| Forever Friend: Jessie Sex: Female Age: about 18 months Breed: Staffy X Size: Medium Description:A
gentle girl who has it all. Jessie is a calm and composed
girl, who is naturally obedient and eager to please. She has had
some training, can sit and shake hands, walks well on lead and has good
meal time manners. She is not jumpy and will wait patiently for
you at the door hoping for a pat and belly rub every now and
then. Jessie is not bothered by cats and is said to be good with
kids. Jessie has just discovered the joys of doggy companionship
and is happy to play day or night with her new four-legged
friends. Jessie clearly adores her human companions and waits
patiently for every ounce of attention she can get. Jessie would
be fine as an only dog provided she was actively involved in her
family’s daily acitivies although I'm sure would love a doggy

| All rounder: JJ Age (approx): 4 years Sex: Female Breed: cross breed Size: Medium Description:
An ordinary looking little dog with a friendly disposition, JJ was sent
to the pound when her owners moved. JJ is such a loyal girl, she
still keeps an eye out for them - she’s sure they’re coming back for
her. What JJ needs now are a caring new home and a new family to
love and to devote herself to for the rest of her life. She is a very
cuddly, human oriented dog, intelligent and responsive. She's a
low maintenance sort of dog, emotionally confident and moderately
active and she will enjoy a daily walk. JJ is toilet trained and
will be very pleased to be allowed inside the house when her family is
home, so she can feel like one of the gang. JJ is well behaved
with children and enjoys drives in the car. She would be happiest
as the only dog in a household so she can have all the attention to
herself. Rescued: 6 August 2005 Adopted: 11 August 2005
| Loving and beautiful: Sunny Age (approx): 15 months Sex: Male Breed: Pomeranian Size: Small Description:
This elegant little dog is a happy fellow with a permanent bounce in
his step. Sunny is very people-oriented and loves EVERYONE- dogs,
cats, children, men, and women. Pomeranians are lively,
extroverted and intelligent dogs who are easy to train. Sunny is
also very smoochy, affectionate and personable. He adores being
cuddled and handled and would be an ideal pet for a child who is old
enough to enjoy an attentive and playful little dog. Pomeranians moult
twice a year and the picture depicts Sunny with a full 'pre-moult'
coat. His 'post moult' coat is much less profuse. Sunny will need
to be combed regularly to keep him tangle-free. Regular brushing
will also minimise the presence of loose hairs, so shedding needn't be
a problem. Sunny enjoys being groomed, lying back in my arms like
a baby while I brush him. Sunny is house trained and behaves
nicely indoors and he will need regular exercise, as he is an athletic
and energetic dog. He loves to play with other dogs, even big
boisterous ones, and would be very happy adopted into a family that
already has a doggy playmate for him. Due to Sunny's very social
nature we feel it is important that he not be left alone for long
periods - and that he have human or canine companionship throughout the
day. Sunny is such a loving little dog - he’s just waiting for a
family to call his own. Rescued: 17 April 2005 Adopted: 11 August 2005

children as she is small, delicate and easily intimidated by rough
handling. Rescued: 1 August 2005 Adopted: 12 August 2005
| Pretty and Confident: Claudia Sex: Female Age: 4 years Breed: Rhodesian ridgeback x Boxer Size: Medium Description:

| Miss gentle: Scout Age (approx): 6 months Sex: Female Breed: German Shepherd x Kelpie Size: Medium-large when mature Description:
Scout is a super sweet young pup; her quiet nature can make her appear
timid but she is just extremely gentle and submissive by nature. She is
very easy going and affectionate. Scout loves to go for walks and spend
time with people, but she is not clingy and is happy to take herself to
her corner for a nap. She plays beautifully with other dogs, everything
from tug-o-war to wrestles. She has a wonderful curiosity for what is
going on and loves to be in on the action, but she does so very
quietly- in fact her foster carers have not yet heard her bark! Scout
has quickly learned to sit, drop, is house-trained and very well
behaved indoors and out, waits for her meals and is enthusiastically
learning more manners everyday. Rescued: 1 August 2005 Adopted: 19 August 2005
| Gorgeous girl: Gypsie Age: 5 years Breed: Foxie cross Size: Small Sex: Female Description: Gypsie
is such a self confident girl that she just walked in to our home as
though she has been here all of her 5 short years. My other dogs
accepted her immediately and Gypsie has taken it upon herself to be the
chief groomer of some of the other dogs, and spends lots of time
washing them tenderly. She is such a gentle and caring little
dog. Gypsie is responsive to basic commands and is eager to
please, she walks well on a lead and is a great car traveller.
Gypsie has lived with children and farm animals all her life, so she
would do well in a home with children. She would especially thrive with
another doggie companion to keep her occupied if her people are away
during the day. Gypsie is a real treasure and would be a happy
and loyal inclusion in any family. Rescued: 27 June 2005 Adopted: 14 August 2005

| Fast learner: Smithy Sex: Male Age: 1 year Breed: Cattle dog X Size: Medium Description:
Smithy is a loyal and attentive young man who doesn’t seem to have
experienced much love to date. When he came to us he didn’t know
how to walk on a lead, had no training and was too apprehensive to come
in the house. He is learning fast though and making fantastic
progress, picking up some basic obedience very quickly and also doing
well on the house-training front. Smithy is a smart and gentle
dog, who while he still has a bit of that puppy exuberance, is actually
a sensible and calm fellow. As a result of his breeding, Smithy
will need regular exercise and some toys to keep him stimulated.
His quick mind and keenness to please would make him an ideal candidate
for obedience training. In terms of companionship, he would be
fine in a single dog house as he is much more people focused than he is
interested in other dogs. His long shaggy coat will require
some maintenance, but is generally fairly low fuss. Smithy is a
lovely dog, who will make an ideal companion or family pet. Rescued: 8 July 2005 Adopted: 19 August 2005 | Easy companion: Sally Age (approx): 1 year Sex: Female Breed: Cattle dog x kelpie Size: Medium Description:
Sally is a lovely girl. She likes being active but after a bit of
a run around she settles into a calm and sensible girl. Sally
likes people, is affectionate and has some basic training already,
being proficient at 'sit', 'stay', 'shake' and 'drop'. Sally also
walks nicely on lead. She plays well with other dogs of various
activity levels, and conducts herself with quiet confidence without
being a needy or demanding sort of dog. Sally appears to be
completely disinterested in livestock. She travels well in
a car and is generally a very nice, easygoing companion dog. Rescued: 13 August 2005 Adopted: 20 August 2005

| Gentle Cuddler: Rebel Breed: Terrier X Sex: Male Age: 2 yrs Size: Small-medium Description:
Ooohhh Rebel looks at you with those big brown eyes that draw you in
and just melt you! You just need to meet Rebel to find out how
delightful he is and how easy he is to have around you. Though enjoying
your company, pats and cuddles, Rebel is not needy, but a settled kind
of dog content with his own company. He has recently begun
playing with the other dogs though appears he would be happy whether
homed on his own or with a doggy companion. Rebel is keen to
please, comes when called and is mastering the “sit”. Rebel appears to
be cat friendly and is a pleasure to take out for a walk or a drive in
the car (sits quietly). He enjoys being allowed inside to be
close and enjoy his family and behaves well indoors, being quiet and
calm. He's a top little companion - a real sweetie! Rescued: 29 July 2005 Adopted: 20 August 2005 | Scallywag: Minty Age: 2 years Sex: Male Breed: Foxy X Size: Small (3 kg) Description:
Minty appears to have been physically abused as he has a couple of burn
marks on his head which have left him with 2 small bald spots.
Fortunately this does not seem to have affected his personality
as he is a very happy boy and will win you over with his cute face and
funny antics of sleeping in a box full of crockery. He gets on
well with all my other dogs and loves a walk but being so small he does
not need long walks and would be quite happy to roam around the yard
checking every thing out. He appears to be half house trained as
long as he has access to the outside. Minty would be best suited
to a family with or without children, preferably he would like a doggie
companion for company as he might not be happy as an only dog. Rescued: 21 July 2005 Adopted: 25 August 2005 |
