ARF Information

How much does an ARF dog cost?

ARF dogs are routinely microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated, on heartworm prevention, wormed, and health-checked. To help cover our costs, ARF asks for a rescue contribution of $253 (incl GST) per dog (dogs over the age of 8 are available at the discount rate of $110 (incl GST)) plus any donations people may wish to make.

Commercial vet costs per vary depending on the practice you attend, the size and sex of the dog and between different jurisdictions. However as a rough guide, listed below are prices for the standard services all ARF dogs have before they are made available for adoption:

  • $30 registration/release fee
  • $30 microchip
  • $100 C5 vaccinations + consultation
  • $25 heartworm test
  • $10 all wormer
  • $155 desexing
  • $350 in total

Many of our dogs require veterinary care for injuries and illnesses they have when we rescue them. This adds considerably to the vet costs associated with rescuing and rehoming each dog.

The rescue contribution helps go toward those vet costs and the rest of the money we need is made up from fundraising and donations. Our foster carers also contribute large amounts of their own money to save and foster dogs. We are totally non-profit and all our members are volunteers. Donations to help us with costs are always very welcome and appreciated. See also: Benefits of adopting an ARF dog and Why does ARF desex and vaccinate etc?
