Want to Help ARF?

Not everyone can adopt or foster a dog, but there is still plenty you can do to help ARF find loving, permanent homes for rescue dogs.

We rely on volunteers and donations to continue our life-saving work. Any help you can provide – financial or otherwise – will be very gratefully received.

Here are just a few suggestions for making a difference:

Become a member
For just $15 per year, you can become a member of ARF. Your membership dollars go directly to helping the dogs. You can choose your level of involvement in ARF activities.

Make a donation
• Before you throw out that old towel, lumpy pillow, or tired old doona, think about donating it to ARF. Foster dogs love 1970s orange and brown!

• A foster dog will cherish your dog's old lead, collar, winter jumper, bed or toys. Or maybe next time you are out shopping for your own dog, why not pick up a few (cheap) dog treats, toys, collars, leads, bowls or other doggy gear for an ARF dog or for inclusion in ARF fundraiser "show bags" or gift packs?

• Dog crates are always needed to keep foster dogs safe and secure at their foster carer's home or while travelling.

• Save a few dollars each week with friends or colleagues at work, to donate to ARF for a foster dog needing special vet care. Unfortunately, many foster dogs require veterinary care beyond just desexing and vaccinating, and this is a significant proportion of ARF's costs. Your financial contribution will help to keep ARF in the black, so we can continue to rescue dogs from 'death row'.

If you'd like to make a donation, please contact us for account details or simply use PayPal.

Sponsor a dog
• If a photograph is haunting you, and you just can't get a particular foster dog out of your head, why not sponsor ?

Sponsorships can either go to a particular dog who requires special vet treatment for illness or injury (our most desperate dogs are usually highlighted on the front page of the website) or you can donate to help us pay our bills for standard vet work on all the foster dogs.

Standard vet work includes desexing, vaccination, testing for and prevention of heart worm and intestinal worms, microchipping and a general health check.

In either case, you can nominate the dog you wish to help us with, and you will be recorded under that dog's description on the website, as a sponsor. You could dedicate your sponsorship to a current pet, or in loving memory of a deceased family pet.

Every cent helps.

GET INVOLVED

Dog transport
– we occasionally need assistance with transporting dogs from outside the Canberra region into ARF care, or from ARF care to forever homes outside Canberra. Next time you're driving out-of-town or flying on business, why not contact ARF and see if a dog needs a lift?

Events and fundraising
– ARF regularly holds fundraising events. Our  market stalls are always popular. If you'd like to volunteer to help out for a few hours, bake doggy treats or perhaps sew goods for sale, please contact our Public Relations Committee coordinator

Information and marketing
– if you have media and marketing experience, we need your help to spread the word! If not, you can still help promote ARF. Posters advertising ARF dogs are available for printing at Pet Rescue and can be posted at your school, vet office, workplace or local shopping centre.

Thank you!
