About ARF

ACT Rescue and Foster (ARF) Inc. (ABN 54 495 663 951) is an incorporated association of people in the Canberra (Australia) and surrounding region who rescue dogs from euthanasia and foster them temporarily in our own homes for as long as it takes to find them loving, permanent homes.

ARF aims to: Save and improve the lives of dogs in the Canberra region by:
  • Rescuing and rehoming as many unwanted dogs as possible;
  • Educating the community about responsible dog companionship;
  • Working with local pounds to help achieve, develop and implement "minimum destruction" policies and procedures; and
  • Establishing and developing networks of communication for people involved in rescue and rehoming dogs.

Dog Quote of the Week:

"A boy can learn a lot from a dog: obedience, loyalty and the importance of turning around three times before lying down"

Robert Benchley

cazzieCazzie

Young Cazzie became very sick with pneumonia and possibly septicaemia shortly after  finding her forever home. Since during this period she is still ARF's responsbility we have incurred a  substantial cost for her necessary intensive vet care. Any contributions (see below) you can make to this are much appreciated.

Foster carers are the "missing piece of the puzzle" between the pound and the forever home. They provide shelter, care and love for the dogs in preparation for their new homes.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, fostering through ARF can provide you with the support to make it easier, safer and more affordable than doing it solo.

If you, or anyone you know, are keen to help save abandoned dogs lives, please read a little about what is involved in "Foster Care" and talk to us and /or complete the form there.

Sponsorship or donations

All donations to ARF of $2 and over are tax-deductible.

If you can help ARF to continue rescuing neglected dogs, some of whom, like Cazzie,  need some extra medical care before they can be adopted, please contact ARF for our bank details to make a direct donation.
