Media Release

“Gooby” elected as Leader of the Goobalicious Dogs Party

On Monday 29 March, the Hon Gooby Foster announced her promotion into the role of Leader of the Goobalicious Dogs Party.

Gooby is a small town girl who was born in Yass around 4-6 years ago, producing several puppies.  Unfortunately, life turned cruel for Gooby when she was caught roaming the streets of Yass by a local ranger.  Despite calls to her family, no one came for Gooby.  She was cold and malnourished but had to wait out her fate at the pound.

Gooby said her greatest moment was when a carer from ARF arrived and brought her to Canberra, the home of Parliament in Australia.  Gooby knew this was her one big chance to make a difference to Australian families and was determined to work hard at learning to be the greatest dog ever.

She was pleased that she moved in with two other dogs and they became great friends and she appointed them party staffers.  She loved going out and meeting the people, both the canine and human variety.  Her biggest challenge in the role so far has been to learn to live and work with members of the Feline Party.  Like most Parliamentarians, Gooby shows some level of respect to the feline party, but is still learning not to hunt too tough.

Gooby says her new role as Leader has made her happy and excited all day long.  There are no sad times for Gooby.  She has already made great achievements in the areas of learning to sit and wait for food and learning to come when called.  She is also putting on weight and has become a lot healthier through good food and exercise.

But Gooby faces some major challenges ahead.  Unfortunately, she was not desexed by her old family and is now in heat.  This means that Gooby will need to stay living with her carer for another month or so until she can have her operation and start thinking about moving into a home worthy of the Leader.  Gooby says she doesn’t plan on wasting this time out.  She has already set up a heavy training schedule and plans to learn new skills such as walking nicely on a lead and how to drop and stay.

UPDATE:  Gooby is pleased to announce that she has now been desexed and is ready to move on to her next challenge.  Whilst in her time out Gooby has made some life decisions and thinks she would prefer to live in a home free from members of the Feline Party.  She has learnt how to drop and stay and is now working on committing herself to doing them when out meeting the people.  Gooby loves the good times, and hopes there is a family with older fun loving children or a running partner that wants to help her be the best Dogs Party Leader ever.

Gooby is microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated and wormed and available for $300 (incl GST).

Wonderful Zoe
Sex: Female
Age: approx 8  months
Breed: Mastiff X
Size: medium-large
Description
This beautiful girl is such a darling.  Zoe's a gentle sweet natured girl who is so well behaved.  In so many ways she is just an overgrown pup.  She's playful and a little bouncy, but she's got a genuine gentleness to her.
She has found the transition to a her new foster home an easy one.  She immediately wanted to play with each and every one of her new foster siblings and has shown impeccable behaviour around them.  And as much as she loves to be with her foster siblings and playing with them, she also loves to be with people and settles quickly and quietly in side.  She loves to be near her human and is curl up nearby.

Zoe is a very special girl who won my heart the minute I met her and who has shown so much potential.  She was a bit of a favourite at the pound, and it's so easy to see why.

She is a fantastic puppy now and I know she's going to be an awesome dog in the right home and with the right guidance."

Zoe is microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated, wormed, and available for $300 (incl GST).

Beautiful Isabella (Bella)
Sex: female
Age: 6-8 years
Breed: crossbreed (part Labrador?)
Size: Medium/large
Description: Isabella is a lovely girl who has settled in quickly with us and our dog. She likes to play with other dogs, enjoys plenty of human attention, and loves her daily walk. Although she won’t refuse any treats, she responds excellently to pats, praise and affection.

She has evidently been trained previously. Bella walks well on the lead, comes when called off-leash, sits, sleeps quietly in a kennel, travels well in the car and is easy to bathe.

Isabella would enjoy a family with another dog for company. She will soon meet some cats to see how she interacts with them.  More information will be added to this profile when she has been in care a bit longer.

Isabella is microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated, wormed and available for $300.00 (including GST).
