In Memory

The Journey - by Crystal Ward Kent

ARF dedicates this section to the those fosterdogs who are no longer with us, but will remain forever in our hearts:

Griffey
jodie

Gorgeous Gentleman: Griffey
Sex: Male
Age (approx): 10 years
Breed: Terrier x
Size: Small
Description: Griffey was Pauline's first foster dog, rescued from the Pound in June 04 and what a top little bloke he was! His time in rescue was as good as any dog could ever hope for. You only have to look at the pictures of him that appeared on our website to see what a well cared for, relaxed and happy little guy he was. There's no doubt he was loved and cherished by his foster mum Pauline, and it was probably one of the happiest periods of his life.
Unfortunately, over the Christmas break, he became ill with a chronic and serious condition which meant he would probably be unable to regain a reasonable quality of life, and so the difficult decision was made to euthanase him.
Rescued: 3 June 2004
Rainbow Bridge: 7 January 2005
Pretty Amazing : Jodie
Sex: Female
Age: 16 months (approx)
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog cross
Size: Medium
Description: Jodie was a gorgeous looking girl with a pretty face and lovely markings in a deep chocolate, almost black, colouring and a very happy grin. She had been cruelly abused prior to being rescued by ARF and sadly, despite dedicated efforts by her foster carer to rehabilitate her, Jodie's early life had left her emotionally scarred, with an unpredictable and potentially unsafe temperament. ARF takes very seriously its responsibility to rehome only suitable dogs, so it was with great sadness that we had Jodie euthanased kindly and gently by one of our vets.
Rescued: 9 November 2004
Rainbow Bridge: 29 January 2005

polly
mack

Name: Miss Polly
Sex: Female
Age: 2 years (approx)
Breed: Papillon cross
Size: Tiny
Description:Miss Polly was in my care for just 12 hours until I noticed that she was not well and took her to my wonderful vet. She stayed there just on 11 days fighting for her life from a debilitating virus.
Polly had hung on so bravely and managed to get through the virus which was the primary cause of her illness that the vet and I were very hopeful of a full recovery.
However the virus had left her quite ravaged and she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Friday morning. The previous night I was able to hold her and say goodbye to one of the sweetest little girls I have fostered since being a carer. Miss Polly will be with me forever.

ARF's very special Thanks to all who contributed so generously to the Miss Polly Fund (now closed as the accounts for her treatment and care are fully paid).
Rescued: 23 January 2005
Rainbow Bridge: 4 February 2005
Loyal and intelligent: Mack (Remus)
Sex: Male
Age: approx. 8 years
Breed: German Shepherd x
Size: Large
God Speed, Old Chap.
Rescued: 9 December 2005
Rainbow Bridge: 14 December 2005

Oscar
Teddy

Gentle Soul: Oscar
Sex: Male
Age: 8-9 years
Breed: Maltese Terrier
Size: Small
Description: Oscar was a sweet and gentle little chap. He came to ARF with his fur matted to the skin, and, as it turned out, not in the best of health. Oscar was diagnosed with advanced clinical heart disease with only a short time to live. His teeth were also in a dreadful state, requiring extensive surgery, so the difficult decision was made to euthanase the little guy. May he now rest painlessly in peace.
Rescued: 22 April 2006
Rainbow Bridge: 26 April 2006
Just clowning around: Teddy
Breed: Pug
Age: 18 months
Sex: Male
Size: Small
Teddy was only in ARF care a very short time before going to Sydney to be the spoiled companion of a couple who had already decided that a Pug was the right dog for them.
Sadly after a short illness he was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour and the difficult decision was made to end his suffering.

"Teddy our little man, Thank you for blessing us by coming into our lives and spending your remaining weeks of life giving us love and joy. You have left your paw prints on our hearts and we miss you deeply"
Love, the Azevedo family
Rescued: 13 April 2006
Adopted: 14 April 2006.
Rainbow Bridge: 2 May 2006

Ted

Griff

Gentle and affectionate: Ted
Sex: Male
Age: Approx 10 years
Breed: Labrador
Size: Large
"Ted was like a comet - he didn't stay long but he lit up the sky with his smile. To know him was to love him. "
Ted's foster carer

"Ted, you were almost ours. We were almost yours. We were devastated when your life ended the way it did. Teddy Boy, we wanted so much for you to become part of our family. We'll never forget you- our 'almost' first dog!"
Ted's almost forever family
Rescued: 24 June 2006
Rainbow Bridge: 27 June 2006
Loyal and respectful: Griff
Sex: Male
Age: approx 4 months
Breed: Crossbreed
Size: Medium
Young Griff was very happy in his forever home riding shotgun in the ute and going to work with the boss/builder everyday, then coming home to be pampered by the family and having an old friend to play with running around the reserve at the backyard every night.
His accidental death took him from his family who are devastated at his loss.

Roxy
Soft and Loving: Roxy
Sex: Female
Age: 14 months
Breed: Crossbreed
Size: Medium
It is with great sadness that we heard that Roxy was tragically taken from her loving family suddenly during October. She was a loving and clever girl who was extremely well loved by Lyndell, Todd and their young family. Roxy was very lucky to have found such a wonderful family to adopt her. She will be fondly remembered and very sadly missed.
